How do I use ColorPix?- Start
ColorPix with Start | Programs | ColorPix
 |
ColorPix starts by pasting the graphic clipboard into
the ColorPix window |
 |
As you move the cursor in the graphic window the web hex
value of the cursor pixel is displayed below the cursor |
 |
When the cursor is clicked, the pixel color code is
stamped at the cursor and displayed in the scrolling grid in web hex, color
complement web hex, and decimal Red, Green, Blue values. The right column of
the grid is a user description for the clicked pixel. The description can be
edited by clicking on the field. |
 |
The graphic window can be filled two ways:
 |
Fill
the ColorPix window from the clipboard. The clipboard can be filled
with the entire screen with the PrintScreen key (the PrintScreen key is
on the top row of the keyboard). Some programs can fill the graphic
clipboard with an Edit Copy command. The ColorPix Paste button pastes
the graphic clipboard into the ColorPix window |
 |
Fill the ColorPix window from a graphic file. Click the
File button to browse to a graphic file |
|
 |
The Print button prints the scrolling list on the default
printer. If Tags is checked then the graphic window is also printed. |
 |
The default printer can be selected from File menu Print
Setup |
 |
The Tags check-box enables clicked pixels on the ColorPix window and printing of the
ColorPix window with tags. If the
Tags box is un-checked then clicking a pixel will only enter the pixel color
information in the scrolling grid and the print function will not include
the graphic window page |
 |
The Clear Tags button removes all tags from the window and
the scrolling grid |
 |
The scrolling grid saves the color values of clicked
pixels. The scroll arrows show previous clicked pixel values. The
description of the displayed pixel can be edited by clicking on the
description field |
 |
The Average index sets the scope of an average value for
the cursor pixel. If average is 0 then the color is only the color at the
cursor pixel. If average is 1 then the color is the average of the 9 pixels
within 1 pixel of the cursor pixel. The maximum value of average is 5. An
average of 5 neighboring pixels is across (2*5+1)^2 = 121 pixels. The
Average value can be changed with the slider index or with the PageUp/PageDown
keys |
 |
The cursor can be moved about the graphic window with the
mouse or with the arrow keys1 pixel at a time. The pixel color is added to
the list with a mouse click or the Enter key |
 |
The ColorPix window can be sized and positioned for the
best display |
 |
The
options and environment are saved when ColorPix exits |
Note,
Microsoft® Windows hex Red and Blue color values are
reversed from the Web hex values; Web Red is #FF0000 and Windows Red hex is
&H0000FF; Web Blue is #0000FF and Windows Blue hex is &HFF0000; Green is
#00FF00 and &H00FF00 Top Home

What is Shareware? -
WindowsUtilities programs are distributed as shareware. Shareware provides you
with software you can "try before you buy", while rewarding the
efforts of the developers. First download and try the shareware
program. If you want to keep the program then buy and register the
program. The opportunity to try before you buy is the ultimate guarantee of a
product's quality and usefulness. The price of shareware is often lower because
it does not have to cover marketing costs. When you support shareware, the
shareware concept continues to work and you continue to get "try before you
buy" software. Top Home
